  1. Hello mates! My name is Alex and I studied business and economics at the University of Manchester in Manchester, England during the spring 2014 semester of my junior year. I used Global Links Abroad to get in touch with my university, and had an incredible time experiencing the British education system, meeting new people, and experiencing Europe for the first time!

The University of Manchester is an excellent school that offers great opportunities. Because it is such a large and international school, Uni Manchester has access to world class teaching environments and faculty, a large array of extracurricular activities, and students from all over the world. While I was there, I lived on campus in a dorm that allowed me to make new friends, and expose me to much more than I could have been able to figure out by myself. By doing a bit of research, and being resourceful with the students around me, I was able to join sports teams, participate in the hiking club, travel to other countries, find great restaurants, and discover great local music venues.

My favorite experience abroad came from joining a Manchester rugby team, and getting the chance to work and play side by side with native English players. Through my team, I was able to travel to Portugal, and establish relationships that I hope to maintain for the rest of my life.

My biggest tip is simply to get involved on campus. By joining clubs and organizations, unforeseeable opportunities, such as new friends, places to travel to, and experiences will begin to open up!
