so my journey in Greece has ended for now! I say for now because I am more then positive I will be coming back. Before going to greece I was warned about culture shock which I think went pretty smoothly! However, I didn’t really get warned about the reverse culture shock that one faces being back home. Being back home felt bitter sweet. I loved that I was able to see my family again after five long months. However being back was the weirdest thing ever. Going from living in a city for five months to coming home and being totally opposite really took a toll on me. Aside from being extremely jet lagged, I felt as if I didn’t fit in anymore. And I wished nothing than to be back back in Thessaloniki, Greece.

However, after being no longer jet lagged and finally adjusting back to the american way of living I came to the realization of many things. A very important one was that I was no longer interested in the career path that I had before leaving. After coming back from being abroad I realize that criminal justice is not the career path that I wanted to head towards. My new passion and drive was in helping others study abroad. After meeting with my study abroad advisor Dr. Petoskey, I Was able to get a job in the study abroad office. This will help me make a decision as to where I would like to head next.

After being back and realizing that I did well on my classes and that I am ready to graduate I think back to what I could of done differently and the only that I can come up with is doing my study abroad experience sooner just because I would of been able to perhaps study abroad for a full year which would have been amazing. This is not to say that I take my journey back. I was very blessed to have met many wonderful people that I know can call friends both here in the states and back in Greece.

Being abroad has helped me in many ways. I find myself to be more aware of the things that are happening everywhere in the world and not just here at home. After experiencing first hand the things that happened in Greece, and realizing how the media gives it such a bad image makes me realize that there is more to things out there.I cant stress enough that Greece is a place that everyone must visit at one point in their life.
